Automation of the prepress stage
For the newspaper printing company, Carbacan developed an IT solution that holistically takes into account the special requirements of newspaper printing. The pre-press sets the switches for an optimal printing technology result. Our solution is consistent with the special requirements of the printing house and is characterized by the following strengths:
- Speed: automatic data processing of all PDF documents
- Security: cyclic control of all FTP folders
- Automatic and individual post-processing of the documents in PDF
- Optimized processes: integration of print planning, personnel planning, print reports and invoicing
- Security: Remote maintenance and support of the system
Technologies
The application for the automation of the prepress has a complex structure. Web-based monitoring of the processes was developed with ASP.NET. The .NET framework was used to implement access to the automation functions developed with Delphi. The actual automation with PDF editing, pairing and alignment was developed with Delphi. The PDF processing via the Adobe Acrobat own libraries was programmed with C ++.
The software uses an MS-SQL database on a Microsoft server as a common database. For data communication with the customer, the software solution uses a Linux-based FTP server.
